Hints of Fall
I know not to get my hopes up. I know how the weather in St Louis works. It may be September and the weather may have cooled a little, but I know that summer still has something left in her. Example: my wedding day on October 7th had a high over ninety degrees.
This weekend, however, was perfect. It was cool but not too cold. The sun was shining but not hot. Brian “worked from home” on Friday and then had today off, so it was essentially a four day weekend for us and we took advantage of it:
Friday evening, we trekked out to the zoo. It wasn’t too crowded despite the nice weather and there was a band playing. Lorelei spent most of the time riding on her daddy’s shoulders and clapping along to the music.
Labor Day also means that Japanese Festival at MoBot. (Can I say again how glad I am to have a membership this year?) I took about a thousand (slight exaggeration) photos but I won’t bore you with all of them. Here are a few favorites:
Half asleep on the grass, waiting for the opening ceremonies
Taiko drummers (this picture featuring my friend Helena)
Sake served to me from a large vat (keg? drum?) by a sumo wrestler
Baby and the big drum
What did you do this weekend?
